You know, I originally wasn’t going to get into the relationship topic until I wrapped up the series on Dating 101, but a few of the readers reached out specifically asking for this post, so I figured we’d start.
WELCOME to the first installment of Relationships 101 - a series on the ins and outs of relationships. Over time, we will cover topics like effective communication, keeping the spark alive, maintaining a healthy sex life, etc.
For now, we will focus on the basics.
Relationship Basics
Merriam-Webster defines a relationship as… blah blah blah…BORING.
Fuck what some horn-rimmed glasses-wearing asshole from the East Coast says, relationships are sometimes hard to define.
Sure, if we want to get scientific about it, relationships are associations between people that can be romantic, familial, financial, or platonic.
BARF.
Here is how I define a relationship:
A relationship is an agreement between people where they come together toward a common goal, typically based upon mutual understanding.
Obviously, the above definition leaves a lot of room for platonic, financial, or other types of relationships, but for the purposes of this post, we will focus on Romantic relationships.
I really pondered the above for a while, and I chose my words very carefully.
